Hep B Recall is a fully automated, web-based system which alerts
gay men about upcoming (or missed) hepatitis B vaccination appointments.
This decreases the number of gay men who won’t have full acquired
immunity from hepatitis B while reducing demands on clinic administrators’ time.
The only work required is the initial setup and regular input of
client details.

  |
New clinics would be required to pay a small yearly subscription fee.
The system is fully supported with a comprehensive user manual and email
support.
The Hepatitis B vaccination requires three separate injections over
a period of up to six months. The Hepatitis B Recall system will remind
gay men about their injection appointments via text message on their
mobile phones and/or via email.

Who is the Hep B Recall scheme for?
This system is for clinics giving gay and bisexual
men their first hepatitis B vaccination jab. The scheme is ideally
for men who have either mobile phones or email addresses (or both)
but can also be used to store details of men who have neither.
Where can I join the Hep B Recall scheme?
This is an opt-in system which is available for and clinic offering
services to gay men to join.

How does the Hep B Recall scheme work?
If you agree to be part of the scheme, you can
choose to be reminded about your next vaccination appointment via
text message to your mobile, by email or both. This information
will be entered into the system – no name is required. Once
you have had your first injection, you will be sent reminders by
the clinic when you are due to go for your follow-up shots. There
may be up to three reminders before your appointment.
Is my personal information safe?
Your information is kept safe in several ways:
 |
We do not record your name; the
only personal details we record are your phone number, email address
and an anonymous client number. |
 |
By law, sexual health clinics must
keep your details confidential. They may not give them out to anyone
except you. |
 |
Your details are not used for anything
other than for reminding you about your vaccination jabs. |
 |
Because several clinics need to
access the system, we use state-of-the-art encryption for the Hep
B Recall system’s website. This prevents anyone from accessing
the data through hacking |
 |
Each individual clinic has a login
name and password. No-one can access the system without it and these
details are kept strictly confidential |
Can I stop the messages?
You are free to leave the scheme at any point. Just
inside your Hep B Recall registration card (on the purple page), you
will notice two phone numbers. The second one is for your clinic’s
system administrator. If you want to leave the scheme, you must contact
them and they will remove your details for you. From then on you won’t
receive any more reminders.
Alternatively, if you are receiving email reminders,
there will be a cancellation link in the message. All you need to do
is click on it and the messages will be stopped.
I finished my vaccination course at another
clinic. Do I need to do anything?
Since each clinic treats you confidentially, we
won’t automatically know if you have finished your course at
a different clinic. We rely on you to let us know if you do. Please
phone the administrator whose details are on your appointment card
and let them know. They can then alter your details accordingly in
the system.
I’ve changed my phone number or email
address – what should I do?
Telephone the administrator whose details are
on the card and let them know your new details. They will change
it on the system on your behalf. Remember you will need to have
your old details handy so they can find your information on the
system.
