Treatment

As the body can usually recover by itself from the virus, there is no treatment for Hepatitis A. People with Hepatitis A are advised to get plenty of rest and to eat well. Alcohol, recreational drugs, fatty foods and lots of exercise should be avoided while recovering.

Being vaccinated can protect someone after high risk contact with an infected person if the vaccine’s given soon enough (ideally within 7 days, but possibly up to 14).
